Building with reused components is currently one of the most talked-about phenomena in the European architectural debate. When building elements that will last for decades are not destroyed but reused for new buildings, this not only saves resources. It also drastically reduces energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in the construction phase of buildings. This so-called circular construction brings with it a multitude of very different issues - from technical and energy-related to legal aspects. This is even more true in the present day, although the phenomenon itself can look back on an ancient line of tradition - thousands of years ago, decaying buildings were already being cannibalized for new construction activity
