Recyclable by Werner Sobek

Frank Heinlein

“Recyclable by Werner Sobek” documents the experimental unit “Urban Mining & Recycling” (UMAR) designed by Sobek with Dirk E. Hebel and Felix Heisel. The unit is part of the NEST research building on the campus of the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research in Dübendorf, Switzerland. The serial housing prototype demonstrates what building with fully recyclable materials can look like. UMAR is a project , whose components are reusable or recyclable down to the last detail: In an expected five years, the building materials are to be returned to the material cycle, thus counteracting scarcity. a comprehensive look at the project and thus at the topic of sustainable construction.
